We think of the iconic Joni Mitchell as a product of the Laurel Canyon scene in late 1960's California, or as the eternal prairie girl from Saskatchewan, Canada, but veteran music journalist and author Susan Whitall will show you a different view.

Whitall will talk about how living in a 19th century apartment building in the Cass Corridor in the mid-'60s with her then-husband, Chuck Mitchell, helped form Joni Mitchell as a songwriter and artist. The presentation includes photos and music by Joni and Chuck and friends, and anecdotes shared by her first husband, as well as interviews with Joni by an array of writers included in Whitall's collection Joni on Joni: Interviews and Encounters with Joni Mitchell, which was published in November to coincide with Mitchell's 75th birthday.

Copies of Joni on Joni be available for purchase at the book signing following the program.
