Event Details

With the Michigan Science Center, let's explore the science of chemical and physical reactions using simple materials you can find at home. Together we'll make lava lamps, create colorful explosions, and investigate what happens when water and oil are forced to mix. This program will be on Zoom; please register to receive the meeting link and password.

If you want to do the experiments at home, have these materials ready:

  • 1 clear plastic cup (or empty plastic water bottle)
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Water
  • Food coloring (any color)
  • ½ Alka-Seltzer tablet
  • 1 small plastic bowl, cup, or plate
